Fighting Everyday to Defeat Depression

The truth is being depressed represents the absolute worst feeling possible. You almost dread waking up because at least when you are asleep you cannot feel pain. Hence, those who suffer from depression sleep for hours and hours.

It is very important for the loved ones of someone who is depressed to not allow them to stay in a dark place; this only contributes to the darkness they feel. Open the blinds in their room and insist they get sunlight everyday. Their mood is usually contingent upon their emotional status and this state can change several times over the course of an hour or two.

The depressed mind is an extremely dark place that will permeate your thoughts and make you feel as if life is hopeless and it’s not worth living. To overcome these feelings pray to the higher being that gives you hope, strength and encouragement; eat a well balanced diet,  take vitamins, exercise at least ten minutes per day if that’s all you can and stay away from people who bring you down and don’t understand what you are going through. You may need medication and consider it to be a help and not a crutch; you may also need to join a depression group and even seek out a therapist.

You have a legitimate disease that can be treated and you deserve to feel better, live a productive life and not feel miserable. Most of all, love yourself and keep your head up. I speak from experience when I say I understand how difficult it is; I struggle everyday as well but at the end of the day, I am alive and functioning as best I can.
